Herbert Asquith (1881-1947) was the second son of Herbert Henry Asquith, British Prime Minister 1908-1916, with whom he is frequently confused. He was greatly affected by his service in WWI, and some of his poems are memorials to the fallen soldiers. Hard cover red cloth w. black lettering on front and spine. Some wear to extremities; spine faded/discloured w. ends bumped, superficial small split to tail of front joint, small split to head of rear joint. Browning to eps, minor colour offsetting from boards to eps. Owner inscription neatly inked on title-page. Belonged to Danish female author Jo Jacobsen (1884-1963). Rather scarse in the Hutchinson-edition, none other found anywhere.
